Frozen Yogurt Drops

My daughter loves yogurt. Even when she was a baby she loved Gerber Yogurt Melts. But, it's always nice to make something yummy and fun. These would be great for picky eaters, as a healthy snack, or as a "dessert". And the best part? They're super easy!

What you need:
Yogurt
Cookie Sheet
Plastic Baggie
Scissors

Put your favorite yogurt in the baggie and snip off the corner.
Squeeze the bag to make nickel size dollops of yogurt on the cookie sheet
Freeze for 2-3 hours and put the dots in a container. Store in the freezer.

See, I told you it was EASY!!

You can also put bits of fruit on the top too. Or even puree some fruit (banana and strawberry is great) and add it to plain yogurt so you get a boost of fruits (may even be able to sneak that in for your picky eater).

Want a free, fun, and educational outside activity?

Here it is!

Today was beautiful! Just last week we had 2 feet of snow and today it was 67 degrees out! So, of course we had to have enjoy it. I saw this idea last year but never got the time try it. It's super simple and my daughter loved it.

All you need is water, small toys, a bowl, and something to hit the ice with. You can also add food coloring or glitter to make it extra fun.

I froze my toys in layers and you can use pretty much any small toy (Barbie shoes, army men, dinosaur, beads, rings, etc)

After it's  all frozen it's time to have fun!

Let your little one use some tools to get the toys out. We used a water bottle with hot water, flat head screwdriver, and a butter knife.  But you can be creative and decide what they should use.

All in all my daughter had a blast trying to get her toys out. While having fun she also used her problem solving skills which was a plus. We will definitely be doing this again!

Ready to play!

 Using her tools

She was so excited when she got them out

Almost to the seashells!

The importance of vegetables and childrens health

Do you garden? Do your children eat healthy foods over sugary foods? Gardening is a very simple form of encouraging healthy eating in your children. Have your children help you plant and harvest vegetables! If you don’t have the space to garden, you can always substitute with the farmers market; take your children with you and let them pick out fruits and vegetables that they would like to eat. Children who are actively involved in picking their food are more likely to eat it. If you do have the space for a garden; everyday when your children get home from school walk through it with them and allow them to pick the ripe fruits and vegetables. It is showing them how rewarding gardening is and they are going to be much more excited about plucking a ripe “fruit of their labor” than you necessarily will. The easiest way to start a mini garden is to plant herbs in small planters and let them grow in your kitchen window which will remind you to use fresh herbs instead of dried herbs. Also if you think about how much money it saves you a year even if it is just during summer months that you can grow your own food. Another point is that if you are buying from a farmers market you are buying locally and the farmer is the one getting most of the proceeds. When you buy from wal-mart the produce has to travel much farther, the overhead costs and employee wages are most of the profit, the farmers of this produce is getting next to nothing. If you have any questions about gardening in your area please direct them to our e-mail mommytalkandadvice@gmail.com with the subject att: Gwen/Gardening. If you give me what city and state you live in I can help you find out what you can and can’t grow and how to understand the difference between growing each individual type of produce. ~Gwen
